The Aliamanu chapter of the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Academy will accept applications at the Aliamanu Middle School cafeteria from 7 to 9 p.m. each Monday in September for its third-quarter classes.

The 10-week Monday classes start Oct. 6 and run through Dec. 8 at the cafeteria. Featured this quarter will be three classes specifically on Peabody, bolero and salsa dance.

Cost is $8 for each 10-week class. Participants must take at least two of the three classes. A one-time membership fee is $10.

Dance the night away

Ballroom dancing will be available with the TMTM Dance Club on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Hartley Community Center from 7 – 11 p.m. Music provided by Shirley’s Big Band. Everyone is welcome, including singles.

The kickoff of the new season will take place Wednesday at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. A dance lesson will be given from 6: 30 p.m. to 7 p. m., followed by dancing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Entry to Riordan Hall is free with a Property Owners Association photo ID card; otherwise, the entry fee is $ 2 per person. Membership dues are $ 25 per couple or $ 12. 50 per person from September 2008 to May 2009.

Membership includes two dances with live bands: one for Christmas and the other at the end of the season.

Ballroom, swing and Latin dance classes will beging Sept. 7 and 8 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

The six-week course will feature Ballroom Level I from 1 to 2 p.m., Ballroom Level II from 2 to 3 p.m. and Imperial Swing from 3 to 4 p.m., all begining Sept. 7. Advanced ballroom is offered from 7 to 8 p.m. and Latin (rumba, tango, salsa, etc.) will be offered from 8 to 9 p.m., both beginning Sept. 8.

It’s unanimous; everyone loves to dance and the best place to do it is at the Roseland Ballroom at Hong Kong City Restaurant on Broadway.

To celebrate a successful year of ballroom dancing, the Roseland is having a special celebration on Sept. 16.
Complimentary appetizers of all kinds will be on the menu for the one-year anniversary celebration. Doors open at noon with dancing from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is $10. The Roseland Ballroom is located at 174 Broadway.

First Friday Ballroom – Friday, Sept. 5, from 3-6 p.m. Enjoy ballroom dancing, featuring the Mike Wolverton Band. All levels of experience, couples and singles welcome. Buffet dinner included.
